Fabulous Find: Vintage Dishes

So I seemed to have had a major relapse in our efforts of paring down. Remember how we purged 82 items from our kitchen? Well this weekend I purchased roughly that much or more… whoops. The good news is I’m not keeping it all. Here’s the story:

When we got married we registered for simple white dishes knowing that as we found great vintage accessory pieces we’d pick up a casserole dish here, sugar bowl there and they would look great with our wedding dishes. In my mind, our table would be like a scrapbook of our adventures together. (Can you tell I’m a romantic?)

Well this weekend I hit the jackpot! I stumbled upon a beautiful set of dishes, with its accompanying serving pieces! There was a casserole dish, large platter, small platter, bowls, you name it. However, they must be sold, as a set only, all 80-something pieces together. Trust me, I tried my sales-girl logic, there was no budging on that matter. So I walked away, strolled through the store contemplating if I really needed them or not. Before I knew it, I was standing in front of those darling dishes again. My shopping companion Teagan promised to take the cream and sugar as well as a few other pieces.  Then, she pointed out these dishes would be a great addition to our up-and-coming Etsy store, Every Good Thing. So we started carting them to the front of the store, it took us four trips, what a find.

With the beautiful platter sitting on our kitchen table I have to fight off the temptation to keep them all, but in the end I remind myself, ’tis a gift to be simple.

I think I’ll find an excuse to borrow them for a spring party…
