Andrea mentioned to me recently that she has a couple of old shutters in the basement left by the previous owner. Gold mine! While I doubt she has enough to fill a wall like the one above I did stumble across quite a few great decorating ideas, 5 in fact here they are:
1.Atop the mantle either as the main feature, or a quick summer addition to freshen up the feel I love the contrasting architectural elements nestled together.

2. Office Organizer Put those slots to good use; sorting mail, clipping post cards, and keeping that ever growing grocery list close at hand.
3. Jewelry Storage Rustic mixed well adorned always makes for a dramatic combination. The combination below was made by Kakilaki Moon
4. Wall Display I love how the long lines of the skinny shutters force your eye up, allowing you to fully drink in those tall beautiful ceilings. Also I have a serious soft spot of those acquired over time collections. This collection below was done for the much blogged about the Bachman’s Summer Ideas House.
5. Headboard. I can’t tell if it’s the delightful shutter headboard or my recent obsession with grey but I can’t help but want to curl up and take a nap right here. You can almost feel the fresh summer breeze. ahhh

I love this mantel idea! Also, I noticed Pottery Barn’s fall catalog uses window shutters as a headboard!
