Easy Mantel Update

Changing the decorations on the mantel is one of my favorite things to do and this might be my favorite one yet!

A year or two ago a friend replaced all the windows in her house and gave me one of the old ones. I've had it sitting in the garage ever since. Then I saw this on Pinterest and knew it was time to bring it inside: I tried the window in front of the fireplace and it wasn't quite big enough to cover opening. I thought it would be too big to sit on the mantel, but I think it looks great!

Before I brought the window inside, I sanded and wiped it down. I love how worn and distressed it is naturally. Then I cut scrapbook paper and taped it in the panes. The best part is, I can change out the paper whenever I want!I brought my billy balls in from the kitchen and think they look great with the window.

I moved the flowers that used be on the mantel to the floor in front of the firebox. Anything to break up that big black hole!
