Marriage Monday: I Wanna Hold Your Hand

Do you still hold hands with your husband? Adam is much better about reaching for my hand than I am about reaching for his, but after being married for 7 years and dating for 4 years before that, we still hold hands. Not as much as when we were dating, but I still love it when he reaches out to hold my hand when we're walking or driving in the car.

I read a survey in Real Simple that said couples who have been together up to five years hold hands a couple time a week, but less than half of couples who have been together for 10 or more years still hold hands. I think that's sad!

I'm not saying that if you don't hold hands with your spouse you have a terrible marriage, but I think there is something special about the simple guesture of holding someone's hand. I always smile when I see older couples holding hands at church or at a restaurant. I hope that's Adam and me some day!

Today, I challenge you to hold your honey's hand! Maybe it will be unexpected or maybe it's something you already do naturally, but reach out and show them you love them with a little hand holding.

Thank you for the lovely reminder! We have been together for eight years now but we definitely do not hold hands as much as when we were dating. We recently were able to get away for the weekend and there was lots more of holding hands.  I think it is about making time for eachother as well as just being mindful of how far initiating something like hand holding can go for your relationship.  Great words of encouragement!

You are so right when you say something as little as reaching out to hold your husband’s can speak volumes!
