He is Risen!

risen-greenEaster is one of those holidays that I feel like gets overlooked. It sneaks up on me every year, but I don't want to miss its significance. When you think about it, Easter is the cornerstone of our faith! In my opinion it's more important even than Christmas. For some reason I get more caught up in what I'm going to wear to church, or what I'm going to make for dinner than in the importance of what we are celebrating.

He is risen!

Take a minute to let that sink in.

As someone who grew up going to church, it's easy to gloss over the Easter story. I've heard the story of the empty grave so many times that it's lost its impact. I'm excited for the day when Emerson is old enough to hear the story for the first time and really understand it. I want to recapture a child-like faith!

Today we remember that through the cross, Christ conquered death and sin and all the hurt and pain that plague us on earth. He is victorious! And because of that, we are victorious! We don't have to let sin and all its baggage rule over us anymore. Yes, it will still be present in our lives, but we know that in the end, Christ reigns!

And beacuse of that, we know that one day we will be with him in heaven, singing his praises forevermore!

I always get goosebumps when I hear the last verse of Phil Wiccam's song "You're Beautiful". It's the perfect song for Easter:

When we arrive at eternity's shore
Where death is just a memory and tears are no more
We'll enter in as the wedding bells ring
Your bride will come together and we'll sing
You're beautiful

This is what we're celebrating today! It's so much bigger than a bunny or jelly beans or a pretty dress.

How are you spending your Easter Sunday? Will you be with family? Will you be hosting a big dinner? Will you be spending the day in in prayer and praise? Before you get busy with Easter outfits, egg hunts, baskets, and candy, take a minute to read this beautiful reminder of what today is all about from Jenna at Eat.Live.Run.

If you're looking for a fresh addition to your Easter table, how about this free watercolor print from Emily at Jones Design Company? I think it's worthy of being on display year round!

Happy Easter! We pray you are basking in the glory of this beautiful celebration!
