{31 Days of Capturing the Spark Day 4} Love is…

by laura.johnson

It is no surprise as we move further and further away from the honeymoon and life barges in with all of its busyness it is easy for the man you fell in love with to become the man that rakes the leaves and shovels the walk.

One of my secrets to fighting off the day to day drone is a secret Love Is list.  Now I believe that most of us are familiar enough with the 1 Corinthians passage, but in case we need a reminder

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

My list may not be as profound, however when life catches up and I’ve had my fill of frustrations it gives me a place to return to remind myself of the man I married and the man I love.  Here is a snippet of my most recent love is list.

Love Is:

  • Putting the Coffee on
  • Sharing Headphones
  • Doing the dishes
  • Ignoring my shoe piles
  • Having Dinner ready
  • Calling on his way home
  • Letting me have ‘my side’ of the sofa
  • Not getting mad when I take up the entire bed

What goes on your list?

  1. Love is:
*bringing me Starbucks in the hospital after giving birth
*giving me the bedroom closet (he keeps his clothes in the office)
    * ignoring the basket of clothes that needs ironing
    * telling me how nice I look when I have no makeup and a head cold (love really is blind!)
*taking the 3 boys fishing so I can stroll through the farmer’s market with the baby for some needed “girl time”

  2. The more we see how we are cared about by others the more we will have the feeling of being loved. I like these lists of “Love is” because it shows us that love actually is all around.

  3. I love your list! I am totally going to start one of my own — and just add to it daily!

-Making me coffee every morning even though he hates it
-Precious notes left around the house
-Wearing handmade beanies, even if they aren’t super handsome
-Shaving (I don’t like the scruffiness)
-Getting up to inspect that bump I heard in the night

Which makes me think — I wonder what his list would look like!

  4. Love is always kissing me goodnight…even if it’s 3 am and I’ve been asleep for the past four hours.

    • Love it Kristen! Ours is the opposite, kissing me good morning even though he’s been up for 3 hours already!
