Archives For Life

readling listNo matter how busy I am with the boys or freelance projects or just life in general, I’m always reading something. If you love something, you make time for it, right? Here are some of my recent favorites.

This is the second book I’ve read by Rainbow Rowell and I want to read more! It’s a light-hearted romance about a guy who’s job is to read company emails, looking for anything suspicious. He falls in love with a woman’s who’s emails are regularly flagged and has to figure out how to approach her in real life. It’s funny and charming.

Sister of My Heart
I just finished this, and it took me by surprise. I borrowed it from my mom and didn’t know anything about it. I couldn’t stop thinking about it! It’s a story about two cousins who are like sisters, growing up in India. I was fascinated with the culture and the story is full of twists and surprises, down to the last page! It made me think about what it means to be family, marriage, and the sacrifices you make for love.

The Storied Life of A.J. FikryIf you’re a book lover, you have to read this! A.J. Fikry owns a small town bookstore and lives a fairly private life until a little girl and a persistent book seller come into his life.

After YouThis is the sequel to Me Before You (which I heard is going to be a movie). Usually sequels aren’t as good as the original, but I think I liked this just as much as the first. **Spoiler alert: It follows Louisa after the death of Will. I really like JoJo Moyes. Her characters are quirky and believable. This would be a great beach read.

The House at Riverton
I’ve read several other books by Kate Morton and liked them, but I think this might be my favorite. If you’re a fan of Downton Abbey (I can’t it’s over!) you will love this story. It’s set in the 1920s in England and it follows the lives of a wealthy family and the staff.

What’s the best thing you’ve read lately?

quiet cornerThis is the last weekend in our house! It’s crazy to think that soon we will be in our new house–there are still so many little things we need to do!

As you can imagine, the house is pretty much a disaster of boxes and piles and more boxes. This little nook by the back door is my happy place. It’s clutter-free and pretty. Sometimes I wish I could curl up on the shelf and ignore all the mess around me! Even looking at the picture makes me breathe a little easier.

The Nester has blogged about the importance of having one sane place in your house when everything else is crazy. I couldn’t agree more! This little shelf and pumpkin just might be the last two things I pack up. Do you have a sane place in your house?

Here are some of my favorite things from the web this week:

Things will probably be quiet around here next week, but hopefully I’ll share an update on our move soon!
