We've shared lots of date night ideas in the past (see here, here, and here) and don't want to sound like a broken record, but one of the best tips for a happy marriage is to keep going on dates, no matter how long you've been married, how many kids you have, or how busy your schedules are!
Does anyone else ever go on a date and look at the other couples and wonder if they're dating or married? I usually think it's the married couples who aren't saying much and the dating couples are deep in conversation, holding hands, smiling at each other. I'm sure that's not always true, but I'll be honest, sometimes we fall into the "married" category. And if we are talking it's about work or the weather.
To avoid this we'll ask each other what our "highs and lows" were for the day or week. Or there was usually a story I heard on NPR that I'll tell Adam and that leads to lots of random conversations.
Here's a great list of 50 questions to ask on a date. Some of them are kind of silly, like what's your favorite color or restaurant, but a lot of them dig deeper and hopefully would lead to good conversations like: how can I encourage you, what are your biggest fears, what do you think your spiritual gifts are?
And when all else fails, have a pillow fight! I love that picture, don't you?
