Easy evergreen swag

I’ve been hunting for a red berry wreath for the front door and haven’t found anything I like (or that I’m willing to buy). Maybe I’ll find one after Christmas when everything is on clearance, but I don’t really want to spend more than $20 and I don’t want something that is glittery and really artificial looking!

Easy Evergreen Swag everafterblueprint.comWe had to cut the lower branches off our tree to get it to fit in our tree stand and of course I kept them! I put a few on the mantel and used the rest to make a swag. I’ve never made a swag before, but followed this tutorial from Rusty Heart Designs. I promise, it’s as easy as it looks! All you need are 5 or 6 branches and zip ties.

Easy Evergreen Swag everafterblueprint.comI think the swag works better than a wreath on our door since it has that little window.

I needed a pretty bow to cover the area where the branches connect in the middle. I used some burlap ribbon I had to make a burlap bow using this tutorial from Thistelwood Farms. I had the red ribbon from another project I’m working on and I think it adds just the right amount of color.
