Friday Finds: Be My Valentine

by Andrea Cooley

all you need is loveEven though I don't decorate for Valentine's Day, I thought it was time for me to take the Merry Christmas off my paint-free chalkboard and write a little love note! Obviously, I'm not a chalkboard artist, but it's fun to play around with!

I'll be honest, part of me wants to rebel against this Hallmark holiday and say you shouldn't need a specialy day to tell someone you love them, but who can resist candy hearts, chocolate, and roses? So whether you embrace the holiday or ignore it, here are some fun ways to show your honey (or your kids) you love them!

lovebannerEmily over at Jones Design Company has a free heart template for writing all the ways you love someone. She cut them out and stuck them to a ribbon to count down the days to February 14. Sweet!

king-hearts-card_300Don't want to buy into the Hallmark holiday but still want to write a love note? Make your own! I love this cute idea from Real Simple using the King of Hearts from a deck of cards. When we were dating, Adam took all the hearts from a deck of cards and would give them to me in notes. He gave me the last one on our wedding day–isn't he sentimental?

valentinepancakesI say any day is a good day for pancakes (and next Tuesday is Pancake Day). I love this idea from Melissa at 1 Pure Heart of putting food coloring in the batter! Has anyone else tried this?

How are you celebrating Lover's Day?
