Friday Top 5: 4th of July

by Andrea Cooley

The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays! It’s in the summer, so it’s usually warm out, and it’s a relatively stress-free holiday. And it involves fireworks. What more could a girl ask for?

If you’re looking for inspiration on this long weekend, here are 5 ideas:

1. Sparklers!
Some people seem to think these are for kids, but I’m a full believer in acting like a kid whenever possible, especially when it comes to sparklers! How can you not be happy with a mini firework in your hand? And who doesn’t remember spelling your name in the air? Try it for me this weekend. You can get a dozen boxes for just a few dollars. It’s totally worth it!

2. Make a banner
How fun is this table? I’m not hosting any parties this weekend, but might have to keep this in mind for next year! If you want to make your own, download printable patterns from etsy.

3. Make a cute cadddy
I love this idea of turning a beer container into a condiments holder from Design*Sponge!

4. Pinwheels
I don’t know what it is about pinwheels, but they make me happy. I think it must be that they are so whimsical. Learn how to make these at

5. Celebrate Stars & Stripes
This year more than ever, I am aware of how blessed we are to live in a free country. We have a friend who is serving in Afghanistan, and his sacrifice and dedication is something I am so proud of and admire. It’s so easy to take our daily freedoms for granted, but when I stop to think about them and what they are worth, I’m humbled. Maybe I’ll make these festive star medallions and remember that every time I see them.

What are you doing for the Fourth?
