Garage Sale Season

Doesn’t this picture make you want to grab a girlfriend and drive around town looking for deals on a Saturday morning?

I can’t drive by a garage sale without at least slowing down to see if there are any treasures waiting for me. There’s something about digging through other people’s castoffs that’s exciting. I know it’s not for everyone, but I love the possibility of finding a deal! One of my favorite things to do this time of year on a Friday is to drive around over my lunch break looking for garage sales. Does anyone else do this?

Adam’s not as big of a fan of garage sales. He doesn’t get pleasure from paying for other people’s junk. Last summer, he was less than thrilled when I brought home this chair from a sale:

I thought at $10 it was a steal! It also helped that I was out with a girlfriend who drives a pickup, so it was easy to load it up. Now that we’ve had it for awhile, he’s admitted that he likes it. He probably will never willingly go to sales with me, but as long as he lets me bring my finds in the house, I can live with that.

My goal this summer is to find a dresser and maybe a side table for our guest room! What are you hunting for?

  1. chairs somewhat like what you posted up there for our living room…one can only hope! :)

  2. I’m definitely on the hunt for a campaign dresser. I think I’ll have better luck at the flea markets around here than at garage sales though. Oh, also still on the lookout for the ever elusive bar cart! :)

  3. Anything for my garden. Two years ago I found a great hoe (that I use all the time) for 25 cents! Garage sales are also great for picking up pots.
