Happy 2013!

Happy New Year! Even though I'm not back to work yet, I still feel like "break" is over. Adam's working and I'm trying to get baby e on a schedule–I'll let you know how that goes! We had a great time visiting family and having friends stay with us, but it's time to get into a routine! Everyone tells me as soon as I think we have a schedule figured out he will change, but I'll take any sense of structure right now!

If you know me, you know I'm a planner. I love a good to-do list (especially when I get to check things off!) and I like routine. Even though we had 9 months to get ready for our baby boy to come into our lives and change everything, it still take some getting used to!

Adam says we have to plan things even more now–going to church or even running to the grocery store with a baby is a lot more work than going by yourself. We have to figure out when he will need to eat, if he needs to be change, and if he will be awake or napping.

If we plan for small things, it only makes sense that we plan for the year, right? I recently discovered the blog Words of Williams and love reading about Eric, Kelsey, and baby Rooney. I love how intentional they are about their marriage and family. Maybe that will be my word of the year, "intentional".

When I learned about their Family Playbook and how they set goals as a family for the year, I knew I wanted Adam and I to check it out! (It's on sale for $0.99, totally worth it if you ask me! and no, they didn't ask me to post about this)This week our goal is to go through the playbook and set our goals for the year. They will range from setting a budget and personal goals to travel plans and traditions we want to do. I don't think I'll publicly share all of our goals, but I'll let you know how it goes. Is anyone else making resolutions or setting goals for the year?

*I love the idea of sending out New Years cards instead of Christmas cards. Aren't these pretty?

  1. good for you guys! I also read Kelsey and Eric's blog and have found a good deal of inspiration to be more intentional as well :) I set up a new budget yesterday that we are going to give a try. Getting Dave on board is so hard. Good luck to you guys!!

  2. Thanks for the link to Kelsey and Eric, love their blog! Matt and I have done yearly meetings since we've been married too. We usually do them around our anniversary and call them our State of the Union. :) I totally bought their Family Playbook to ramp up our meetings!

  3. I thought you would like it!
