The first plant Adam and I had was a jade plant. Everyone told us we couldn’t kill it, and since I’d never had any plants and we lived in an apartment at the time, I thought it was a good choice. I diligently watered Jade (we weren’t very original with the name) every week. And after a few months, he wilted and died. Little did I know, I was paying too much attention to the little guy! He was water logged!
Fast forward almost 6 years, and now we have several jade plants and other succulents perched on our window sills and around the house, and I only water them every few weeks. And they’re thriving!
This weekend, I decided to grow my little succulent collection. I had a shallow bowl that I picked up at a flea market last summer and have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to put it to use. I had heard that Lowe’s had a good selection of succulents and I wasn’t disappointed. It was hard to choose only 4 plants to bring home! I already had a bag of Miracle Grow soil for succulents, so I happily arranged my new friends.
Isn’t it lovely? Right now it’s living on the dining room table, but I’m not sure if that will be its permanent home. I’m not sure it gets enough natural light there.
The only plant I can identify is the tall aloe in the back. I love all the different textures and shades of green!
Hooray for indoor gardening! Do you have houseplants? Any tips for keeping them alive?
