Indoor Gardening

by laura.johnson

It’s officially been spring for 9 whole days, yet despite what the calendar says the weather has had other ideas. We’ve been hit with a late winter blizzard topped with sleeting rain leaving a thin (sometimes very thick) layer of ice covering just about everything that had hopes of coming up blooming. sigh

Over the last few days the sun has stepped out from behind the clouds, as if to almost apologize for its earlier nastiness, and I’ve decided that I’m just going to pretend like it’s spring and do a little indoor gardening.

I separated our sweet succulents, giving those left in the tin a little room to grow, and making use of an extra kitchen utensil pod left over from our kitchen refresh.

Dropped a few tulip bulbs in a planter,

and started some new basil for the summer growing season.

Now if only I could get mother nature on board with my spring action plan!

  1. I can feel spring coming, for real this time!! We’ll be hitting the 40’s and 50’s for at least the next 10 days. I have some bulbs I need to plant. Do they really bloom that quickly?

  2. Can I plant tulip bulbs indoors right now and have them bloom this year? I was always under the impression that you had to plant them in fall…Do tell!

  3. Wow! Great plant photos.
