Artist draw inspiration through all sorts of venues, fashion, nature, architecture, they combine all these elements to create something so beautiful and moving it inspires us all. I’m not an artist, so I sift through ideas on Pintrest and marthastewartweddings.com, then throw all of those ideas together, shake it up, and hope the project turns out ok. Not the best process in the world but hey I think it worked out this time.
Ok Here’s the low down on my Festive Summer Wreath, you’ll need:
- tissue paper in contrasting colors
- card-stock for backing
- ribbon for hanging
I started with 3 8″x8″ sheets of blue tissue paper,
accordion folding each, then folding them in half again, keep in mind the larger the folds the deeper the wreath.
Glue each center fold area together, then glue all three fans together edge to edge, finally bringing both ends together to make the starburst base.
For the flower cut 8 petals out of a contrasting color. Glue 5 of the petals together, once again bringing the last petal around to the first to give the flower a little dimension.
Use the remaining 3 petals to create the floral center by pinching the ends together and giving it a little twist for good measure.
Here comes the fun part, putting it all together. I recommend trying out the flower is a few different spots first, center, off center, down low, up high…
Once you found the perfect placement glue the floral base to the starburst, followed by the floral center.
For hanging simply add a ribbon loop to a square 4″ piece of card stock, apply glue generously and gently set the card-stock on the back of your wreath and let gravity to the rest.
Voilia! Look at this baby, you know a party is happening at this household!
