Long, long ago, in a land far, far away, I lived in an Ikea mecca. There were three stores within a 45 minute drive (depending on traffic). It was like heaven for my contemporary design loving, thrifty self. Then three years ago I moved halfway across the country and have been waiting for an reason or an opportunity to make a much longer drive to the nearest Swedish big-box store.
Well folks, I found a reason; kitchen storage. With all the paring down and adding to we’ve been doing I was ready to get some more open storage for cookbooks, coffee mugs, and of course all of those pretty yet unpractical dishes. I’ll save all of those kitchen updates for another post. But I thought I should share a few of the oh-so-wonderful Ikea items recently added to the Johnson houshold.
Kassett Box with lid
These are great for all sorts of storage. For now they are holding my scarves and clutches, but I wouldn’t be surprised if other goodies find their way into these beauties.
Kardemumma Plant Pot
After spending more time with my plant loving friends I’ve been on the look out for sleek planters to add to my collection, these guys definitely fit the bill! They come in several patterns and sizes. I got two of the mod dot pattern in a 6″ and 8″.
Flyt magazine holders
5 for $2 bucks is hard to beat! Of course I had to pick up a pack.
Blomster Candel Holders
I purchased these as a modern pop of style to add to our kitchen table or bedside table. However after getting these beauties home, I think I’ve found a another purpose for them, of course more on that one later.
Finally some color! For those keeping track, that is 12 white items to two colors. See a theme developing? Maybe it’s the blizzard-like conditions of the last week and a half or a general urge to take my home a little lighter and little brighter, but I find myself steering back to white time and time again. While these pillows aren’t white, they definitely fit with in the lighter and bright category!
