Design*Sponge was the first decorating blog I started reading on a daily basis more than 4 years ago. Grace–yes, we’re on a first-name basis–the D*S creator and decorator extraordinaire, created a home for decorating, diy-savvy, home-design loving women. Laura and I talk about the latest post on D*S or send each other links to our favorite projects all the time, so of course, when the book came out earlier this month, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it!
First off, the design is beautiful! I love that it doesn’t have a dust jacket with an image of a stuffy room on the cover. The red-orange color with gold sketching is unique and inspiring in itself. And it’s big! It’s packed with almost 400 pages of inspiration!
The first day I had the book, I sat at my kitchen table with a cup of coffee and read the introduction. Am I the only one who loves to read the editor’s letter in magazines? Maybe it’s because I’m a writer and work in publishing, but there’s something so personal about the letter or introduction. I feel like I get to peek into the mind of the author or editor and see a glimpse of their vision for pages. Anyway, I loved hearing how Grace started the blog as an outlet for writing and design appreciation never imagining that it would became a mecca for all things decorating and design.
I can’t wait to have more time to flip through the pages (I’m traveling for work this week and couldn’t justify packing the book in my carry-on). I already have my eye on some of the projects and need to take a closer look at some of the furniture makeovers so I can try them myself! I won’t give away any of the project specifics, but there are some amazing ideas!
Who else excited about the book?
