Our Favorite Toddler Books

by Andrea Cooley

favorite toddler books2 Emerson loves to read books these days and I love reading to him. Even when it means reading the same book over and over again! I am a big reader and really hope he grows up to love it as much as I do!

We usually go to the library every week and pick out a few new books, but these are the books that are in constant rotation.

Demolition
Since we love Roadwork so much, we had to get this one by the same author. It’s not quite as good as the original, but still an entertaining read!

Roadwork
Hands down, this is our favorite book these days. Even though I practically have it memorized and we’ve been known to read it multiple times in a row, this is a must. Even if you have a girl, I promise you will both love the sounds and rhymes and rhythm of this book.

Lift-the-Flap Tab: Trucks
Do you notice a theme? We are going through a big truck phase and this one is a favorite!

Charley Harper ABCs
I’ll be honest. I bought this book because I love Charley Harper’s work and it’s such a pretty book. So I was thrilled when Emerson liked it as much as I do!

First 100 Words Lift-the-Flap
We checked out a similar book to this one at the library and read it so much I knew we had to get our own. I kind of wish it didn’t have the flaps (Emerson has ripped off a couple of them) but it’s still a great book!

Little Blue Truck
Another catchy rhyming book that’s great for girls and boys.

It’s Time to Sleep, My Love
If you’re looking for a good bedtime story, I highly recommend this one!

Trains Go
A whole book dedicated to the different sounds trains make. We also have the truck version.
Now it’s your turn! What toddler books do you read over and over again? We’re always looking to add to our collection!

  1. Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site, Daisy Gets Lost, A Ball for Daisy, All of the Pigeon books (Don’t let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, etc), Skippy John Jones books (longest books EVER, but best done in a Spanish accent), Green Eggs and Ham. But mostly the first four, over and over again. The problem is that those books are all library books and will have to be returned eventually :) The Charley Harper ABC book came in one of our Citrus Lane boxes and I agree, it’s lovely!
