I’ve been inspired by Emily’s laundry room makeover to find little ways to make the chore more enjoyable. I don’t have a sunny spot to wash clothes, but I’m still thankful to have a washer and dryer in the house!
I think the only pictures I’ve shared of our basement are of the room with the ping pong table. You’re not missing much! It’s a typical, unfinished basement. It’s not scary, but it’s not exactly warm and inviting either.
The walls in the basement are brick. This is a good thing because it means the foundation is strong. The downside is that it makes it hard to hang anything on the walls. I kept telling Adam how nice it would be to have a shelf above the washing machine to put detergent and stain remover on. He didn’t think it was a good idea.
I knew there had to be something to make my life easier! I found this laundry shelf on Amazon.com (seriously, what did people do before they could shop online?) For less than $12, I was sold! Of course I had to find something else to buy to reach the magic $25 and free shipping. I don’t even remember what it was, but it was worth it.
The shelf wedges over the top of the washer–no assembly necessary! Now my detergent and stain remover are off the floor and laundry is a little easier.
Maybe I’ll hang a chalkboard above the shelf with a command hook. That should work on the brick and it would be a great place to write memory verses! Every time I do a load I can look at it.
