Archives For books

readling listNo matter how busy I am with the boys or freelance projects or just life in general, I’m always reading something. If you love something, you make time for it, right? Here are some of my recent favorites.

This is the second book I’ve read by Rainbow Rowell and I want to read more! It’s a light-hearted romance about a guy who’s job is to read company emails, looking for anything suspicious. He falls in love with a woman’s who’s emails are regularly flagged and has to figure out how to approach her in real life. It’s funny and charming.

Sister of My Heart
I just finished this, and it took me by surprise. I borrowed it from my mom and didn’t know anything about it. I couldn’t stop thinking about it! It’s a story about two cousins who are like sisters, growing up in India. I was fascinated with the culture and the story is full of twists and surprises, down to the last page! It made me think about what it means to be family, marriage, and the sacrifices you make for love.

The Storied Life of A.J. FikryIf you’re a book lover, you have to read this! A.J. Fikry owns a small town bookstore and lives a fairly private life until a little girl and a persistent book seller come into his life.

After YouThis is the sequel to Me Before You (which I heard is going to be a movie). Usually sequels aren’t as good as the original, but I think I liked this just as much as the first. **Spoiler alert: It follows Louisa after the death of Will. I really like JoJo Moyes. Her characters are quirky and believable. This would be a great beach read.

The House at Riverton
I’ve read several other books by Kate Morton and liked them, but I think this might be my favorite. If you’re a fan of Downton Abbey (I can’t it’s over!) you will love this story. It’s set in the 1920s in England and it follows the lives of a wealthy family and the staff.

10 books I want to read

by Andrea Cooley

10 books to read www.everafterblueprint.comIf you’re anything like me, you have an ongoing list of books you want to read. I keep an ever-growing list of titles and authors that I want to read on my phone, but these are the ones I most want to read right now. Some of them are new and some of them have been sitting on my shelf for years.

Little Women
This is one of those classics that I can’t believe I didn’t read growing up. I’ve seen the movie and love the story, so I just need to pick up the book. I even have a pretty copy of it, what am I waiting for?

Cold Tangerines
I have read all of Shauna’s other books and love them, so I feel like I definitely need to read her first book.

Americanah
This is one of those books I feel like everyone is talking about. It’s about a Nigerian immigrant and her experience coming to America. I’m sure it will open my eyes to the racism that is still so prevalent in our society.

Burgess Boys
I really enjoyed Olive Kitteridge by the same author and Adam got me this for Christmas several years ago and I keep meaning to start it but it keeps getting bumped. Has anyone else read it?

Sacred Marriage
I’m always interested in a good book about improving my marriage and this book comes highly recommended.

Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand
I feel like this is one of those books everyone read 5 years ago. Did I miss the boat? Is it worth reading now? I have a copy that I got from one of those Little Free Libraries (love those!). It seems like it would be a good beach or plane book.

The Source
I’ve read several other books by James Mitchner and they are epic, spanning countries and generations. This one is particularly intriguing because it traces the history of the Jewish people in the Holy Land.

Love Does
Another book I’ve heard nothing but good things about and that is sitting on my shelf just waiting to be read. I think it will be a quick read, but I’m just much more likely to pick up fiction than a memoir.

Scary Close
I’ve read and enjoyed several other books by Donald Miller and am looking forward to digging into his latest book about letting down your guard and finding true intimacy.

I Capture the Castle
Confession: I started this book about 6 months ago and haven’t been able to get into it. I keep it by my bedside table and pick it up when I have nothing else to read. I feel like it’s one of those books that is required reading for book lovers.

I’d love to know which of these books you’ve read and would recommend and also what’s on your to-read list!
