Thankful in May

by Andrea Cooley

mayI can’t believe another month has gone by! I think this is the 7th month I’ve shared what I’m thankful for and I have to say sometimes it’s hard to think of new things to be thankful for every month, it’s such a great exercise!

  1. My mom. She’s an amazing, Godly woman and I’m so blessed to have her as a mom and a friend.

  2. Blooming everything! And veggies in the garden. Now I just have to wait for everything to grow!

  3. Rocking Emerson to sleep. It doesn’t happen often and I know it’s something I’ll miss when he’s grown up!

  4. A working freezer. Our defroster was broken and thankfully we figured out how to fix it. You don’t realize how much you use something until it doesn’t work!

  5. Low-key weekends home with Adam and Emerson. I was out of town three weekends in a row, which was great, but it’s good to be home with my boys!

  6. Adam cleaning out the gutters. It’s his least favorite job, but I so appreciate that he does it every spring and fall!

  7. A window air conditioner. Our bedroom is in the attic and this pregnant mama likes it to be cool at night!

  8. 3 day weekends and the start of summer!

  9. Working on projects with Adam. He built an outdoor table and we’re working on getting the guest room ready for Emerson once the baby comes. It’s a lot of work to tackle projects with an 18-month old under foot, but it’s so rewarding when we finish them!

  10. A new Bible study with my girlfriends. We’re going through Jennie Allen’s new Restless study. So far it’s really good! Has anyone else done one of her studies? I recommend them!

  11. Visiting Adam at work and having lunch with him and Emerson.

  12. Having friends over for a BBQ. We are so blessed with friends who we consider family. I never want to take them for granted!

  13. Adam setting up the ping pong table in the basement and knowing how happy it makes him when we play after Emerson goes to bed.

  14. Iced coffee and coffee ice cubes. I know it’s summer when I drink my joe on ice!

  15. Enough food in the pantry and freezer to make dinner when I haven’t been to the grocery store in over a week.

  16. Spray paint! Seriously, one of my all-time favorite project tools. I’m working on a bunch of projects for DIY magazine and spray paint is involved in every one of them!

  17. A neighbor girl who loves playing with Emerson. She watched him for half an hour one morning and it was amazing how much more I got done in the yard than if he had been “helping” me!

  18. Reconnecting with high school friends at a baby shower.

  19. Starting my third trimester and still feeling pretty good–this baby will be here before we know it!

  20. The character of our old house. Even though there are times when I’m ready to throw in the towel and move into new construction, I would hate to lose the charm, creaks, and quirks of a house built in the 1930s.

  21. Visiting a friend’s church. It’s always encouraging to see where other people worship

  22. Making time to do a project for myself. My list is always long, and sometimes you just have to pick something easy to start and finish!

  23. We have been blessed with amazing people to watch Emerson while I work. We were sad to say goodbye to Kya for the summer (but she’ll be back in the fall!).

  24. Driving with the windows rolled down and turning up the country music. Yes, I listen to country, do you have a problem with that?

  25. Friends and family loving on Emerson. He’s a blessed boy!

  26. Lots of stroller walks. Sometimes we walk a couple times a day. I’m enjoying all our one-on-one time before the baby comes!

  27. Borrowed maternity clothes. It’s been fun to share maternity clothes with friends through our pregnancies!

  28. Skinned knees–they mean it’s nice out and we’re playing hard.

  29. Mature trees. Even though they cover our driveway with pollen and propellers, but it’s worth it for their shade and beauty!

  30. Garage sales! I can’t resist a good deal, especially when it comes to baby clothes!

  31. Being pregnant with friends. 40 weeks is a long time and it’s been such a blessing to walk through this pregnancy with Laura and several other close friends.
