Tips & Tricks: Regrow green onions

by Andrea Cooley

regrow green onionsThere are so many idea and tricks on Pinterest, but some of them seem too good to be true (like the recipe for “healthy” brownies that look delicious in the picture and turn out to be dry, crumbly, and unappetizing in real life). Here’s one that really works: Regrowing green onions.

Cut green onions down to the white part, then put them in water and watch them regrow! It usually takes about a week. That’s all there is to it! I recommend changing out the water every few days, but that’s really all you have to do. I’ve regrown the same onion twice, then I usually throw them away and start fresh.

What tricks do you have up your sleeve? We’d love to hear about them! Anything to make life easier :)

  1. Ha – my tip is to forget to harvest the onions growing in your garden so they hibernate during the winter and regrow in the spring, completely deleting the need to replant!
