I'm a HUGE fan of the Olympics! I can't help but get caught up in the excitement of the competition and inspired by the stories of the athletes and what they've sacrificed and the odds they've overcome to get there. Going to the Olympics (preferably the Summer Games is at the top of my bucket list, right behind going to the Rose Bowl Parade!)
For the last two Olympics I have helped organize Olympic games where I worked. I don't have anything big planned this year, it kind of snuck up on me! I will be spending plenty of quality time watching skiing, skating, snow boarding, and of course listening to commentary by Bob Costas–will he ever retire!?
Is anyone hosting an Olympics party? For the London Olympics we helped some friends throw a a great party complete with medals, London tea, and American flags.
Of course there are tons of fun ideas for hosting an Olympic-themed party on Pinterest. Some of my favorite ideas are having an indoor snowball fight with rolled up white socks, making White Russians to drink, and frosting donuts in the colors of the Olympic Rings.
Winter Olympic trivia is another favorite. Do you remember which Olympics it was that the Tanya Harding/Nancy Kerrigan scandal was? Or when did Kristi Yamaguchi win gold?
There's still time to decorate! Remember the Olympic Rings I made for the London Olympics? All you need is electrical tape and pipe wrap.
I had hoped to hang the rings again, but unfortunately they got tossed into the back of a closet and I'm not sure they will survive for this years festivities. If nothing else, I'm sure Emerson will have fun playing with them!
Go Team USA!
